A Study on the Daily Food Intake and Total Body Fat Estimated by Means of Skinfold

Abstract
For the measurement of the fat contents and nutritional status of urban middle and high school girls, an intensive examination was conducted on a total number of 1,538 students, 13 to 19 years of age groups. Total body fat was esimated by skinfold thickness measurements on four sites, namely, subscapular, abdomen, lumbar and triceps, and it was calculated by Kim¢¥s13) regression equation. And for the study of corelation between body fat and daily food intake, 180 students who were selected by random sampling were given questionnaires. For a week, the respondents filled out the questionnaires. They were asked to keep record of hwat they ate each meal. Their nutritional intake were analyzed in accordance with what they ate.
As a result of this survey, the following conclussions were obtained.
1. There is no conspicuous change in physical condition of the primary, middle and high school girls.
2. Total body fat doesn¢¥t show remarkable differences being compared with the mean value of Korean women.
3. There are many rooms to be improved in the state of nutrition in school girls. They are unbalanced innutrition because they take in too much calory from cereals.
